Parents of private school students in Elmbrook — this affects your family.
On the March 10th board meeting, the Middle school Start Time is being proposed as a discussion item and this is one of the options.
Several school board members have shown support for this model that comes with a catch: the only way to make it work without increasing costs to taxpayers is to change how private school busing operates.
What does that mean for your child? A bus drop-off around 7:10 AM — over an hour before many private schools start — and an early pickup around 2:30 PM, pulling your child out before the school day ends.
Your family pays the same property taxes as every other Elmbrook resident. Your children consume virtually none of those education dollars. District busing is one of the few benefits your family receives in return — and now it’s the first thing on the table to cut corners.
This isn’t a hypothetical. Board members have voiced support for this approach. The decision will be made in the coming months with the newly elected board and could directly impact your child’s daily routine and your family’s schedule.
If you don’t want this to happen, it matters who sits on this board and will be decided this April.
Please share this with any private school family in Elmbrook who needs to see it.
